Thousand Islands Regency Applies New Social Sanctions for PSBB Violators

Thousand Islands Regency sets new social sanctions for residents who violate health protocols by posting the violators names in open spaces and announcing the names through mosque loudspeakers.

This new sanction is expected to give deterrent effect to the violators

Thousand Islands Acting Regent (Plt), Junaedi appreciated Satpol PP for its innovation and socializing people to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the region.

"This new sanction is expected to give deterrent effect to the violators," he said, Thursday (8/13).

78 PSBB Violators Netted in Cipayung

He believed the new social sanction can make people not to repeat their violations and they can be more orderly in following health protocols.

"We hope Thousand Islands can be green zone again," he added.

Thousand Islands Satpol PP Head, Rahmat Lubis stated, his side will post the names of health protocols violators on bulletin boards at urban village offices, mosque, musala, RW secretariat, and Karang Taruna thus people can see the names.

"Not only posting their names on bulletin boards, we also announce the names at mosque thus they can participate in communal work which has been set by local urban village as a part of their social sanction," he explained.

In the other hand, North Thousand Islands' Kelapa Island Urban Village Government Section Head, Muslim mentioned, violators names posting is used as a substitute for fines.

"Before the prayer, we usually announce PSBB violators names to inform them to participate in communal work on the day that has been set," he conveyed.
